Media Production 1 is an introductory course designed to build foundational skills in digital storytelling and broadcast production. Students learn the fundamentals of videography, including camera operation, composition, lighting, and audio recording. They develop interviewing techniques, on-camera anchoring skills, scriptwriting basics, and non-linear editing using professional software. Emphasis is placed on clear storytelling, teamwork, and production workflow. The goal of Media Production 1 is to prepare students with the technical confidence and creative foundation needed to advance into Media Production 2 and participate in the school’s broadcast program.

Media Production 2 (Full-Year Course – OHS News & Noticias)

Media Production 2 is an advanced, full-year course centered on producing OHS News & Noticias, Ossining High School’s weekly student-run broadcast. Students operate in a structured newsroom environment, taking on professional roles such as producer, anchor, reporter, cinematographer, editor, and graphics designer. Each week, students collaborate to research, script, film, and edit original news segments that highlight school events, student achievements, athletics, cultural celebrations, and community stories.

OHS News (English) and OHS Noticias (Spanish) provide students with opportunities to create inclusive, bilingual content that reflects the diversity of the school community. Through regular production deadlines and authentic storytelling experiences, students strengthen leadership skills, critical thinking, collaboration, and advanced editing techniques. By the end of the course, students produce polished, broadcast-quality episodes that inform, celebrate, and connect the Ossining High School community.
